Pub Owner Donates $25,000

The money grew quietly for 15 years.  Each year since she became co-owner of The Rail Pub in downtown Savannah, Trina Brown set aside a portion of the bar’s profits.  She kept newspaper clippings of Paul Newman and Bill Gates and their philanthropic efforts for inspiration.

This December, she and her business partner, Melissa Swanson, took stock of the economy and of the patrons who, while not desperate, were struggling. Time to break open the nest egg. … more »
