Safari Inspiration -- Mantua Man Helps Bridge Gap Between Communities and Wildlife

A two-week safari arranged by Harrison’s company in 2001 for actor Paul Newman, who died last September, is having a lasting impact through an uplifting program known as  “Children in the Wilderness.”

During Newman’s safari, it was suggested that visions shared by the owner of camps in Botswana and Namibia be combined to start an African program. Newman listened. Three months later  “Children in the Wilderness” was created.

Harrison said Newman’s safari “turned out to be a lot more than just a vacation.” It impacted the lives of thousands of children, and it’s still growing. … more »
