Paul Newman Inducted Into Connecticut Hall of Fame

WESTPORT, CT — Longtime Connecticut resident Paul Newman was inducted into the Connecticut Hall of Fame today. Newman was remembered for his philanthropic work and contribution to the state.

“Connecticut was the soil in which Paul really planted his philanthropic enterprises,” said Newman’s Own Foundation President and CEO Robert Forrester. “It is a place he was proud to call home.”

In addition to Newman’s Own Foundation, Paul launched Newman’s Own, Inc. - his namesake charitable food company - and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in the state. He also supported hundreds of other Connecticut charities and initiatives such as the Maritime Aquarium, The Discovery Center, Westport Country Playhouse, Connecticut Fund for the Environment, and Connecticut Public Broadcasting.

Newman was inducted posthumously in a ceremony at the state Capitol. He becomes the eighth member of the Connecticut Hall of Fame and joins esteemed company, including Katherine Hepburn, Mark Twain, Jackie Robinson and Ralph Sturges.
